Curriculum and EYFS

Our nurseries all follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is produced by the government to set standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

The areas of learning set out in the EYFS are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

At Perfect Start, our primary consideration towards children’s learning is the knowledge that a child’s brain will develop more in the first five years than at any other time in their life.  For this reason, we have put together an Educational Programme for all of the children in our nursery that will give them a world of opportunities to grow and develop intellectually, physically and emotionally.

We ensure that every day, the children are given the chance to enjoy exciting new learning experiences and the activities on offer cover the main seven areas of development.

Each individual child has activities planned just for them every week to focus on an area of their development. We constantly monitor children’s progress in all areas and ensures that parents are kept up to date about the progress of their child.

Our unique programme of educational learning activities ensures that there Is always something new, exciting and fun for the children to experience each day; whether it’s science activities In Pre-School, balancing games in the garden for the toddlers or musical fun for the babies.

In addition to the curriculum that we provide, our staff team are trained to maximise every opportunity to improve children’s learning – whether it be learning mathematics at a meal time or helping a child to learn the skills needed to put their own coat on or learning about how the world around them impacts on their lives.  Our staff use warm praise and recognition to build children’s confidence, extend their knowledge and above all have the most amount of fun whilst learning.
